I got my first culture shock early on when I moved from Papendrecht to Venray in northern Limburg in my adolescence. I was often the odd one out. Topics like being able to be yourself, adapting, conscious and unconscious influence and the strength and power of the group kept me busy early on. Living and working for extended periods in Zimbabwe and Rwanda has reinforced my fascination with cross-cultural communication and social norms.

My background as a political scientist and my work in a journalistic, civil service and political environment added to this knowledge and experience of power, interests and conflict. These themes have coloured my ideas about people and their interrelationships.

I am idealistic, driven and extremely fascinated by people. With his/her dreams and desires, failure and trying, discrepancy between outside and inside, falling and getting up again. Due to my chronic intestinal disease and a fast and sometimes dissentient brain, my attention to and interest in neurodiversity is very strong. Challenges such as giftedness, high sensitivity, dyslexia, AD(H)D and ASD also come into play with my husband, children, many friends and family. If you recognise anything in this, know that I am an (experiential) expert.
