Erik van Egmond: “I suffered a non-congenital brain injury due to an industrial accident. The positive influence of neurotraining on my symptoms has been tremendous.”

I got in touch with Dynamisch Bureau through the Employee Insurance Implementing Agency (UWV) for neurotraining. Due to an industrial accident, I suffered non-congenital brain injury and went from working 60 hours a week to not working at all. I can no longer take good care of myself and I find it hard to cope with stimuli. I still have a long way to go, but have hopes of eventually becoming self-sufficient again.

Previously, I attended occupational therapy, which had little to no effect. When I really couldn’t do anything anymore, I entered a rehabilitation programme. I spent 2 weeks there in-patient for neurotraining and psychological counselling. I benefited from the neurotraining and returned regularly for more training over the following 2 years.

I was pleasantly surprised when my UWV contact mentioned the possibility of neurotraining through  Dynamisch Bureau. I gladly went along with that. Through Dynamisch Bureau, you do the training at home, which saves a lot of stimuli because you don’t have to travel. The perfect solution for me!

The positive impact of neurotraining on my symptoms is huge, I have pretty good speech again during the treatments. Previously during the day, my speech fell away. I also had a lot of trouble processing information. Now things are going a lot better. I can partly manage myself again, unfortunately a normal life is not yet in the cards. However, I can walk again, take care of myself and take care of my food, which I could not do before.

I would advise anyone who suffers a severe concussion to contact a doctor immediately and get plenty of rest. And in case of insufficient recovery, additionally have neurological examination and start neurotraining preventively already. I can highly recommend the training via Dynamisch Bureau. You only have 1 set of brains. Be careful and don’t think too lightly about brain damage. Listen to your body carefully!
