Our 'matcher' Vanessa speaks

At Dynamisch Bureau you choose which coach you want to meet. Based on travel distance, personal preference and coaching question, a coach will be selected together with you from our team of about 60 affiliated coaches. Our matching team ensures that the majority of our introductions lead to a process. Our ‘matcher’ Vanessa tells more about this fascinating role.

Vanessa van der Veldt:

“Since July 2023, my family and I have traded 17 sunny years in the Caribbean for a new home in the Netherlands. My husband, our three daughters, and our two dogs now live in Haarlem. I worked for over 25 years in secretarial and facilities roles, including the last nine years as a business manager at an international school in Aruba. Back in the Netherlands, I was looking for work again, and since May of this year, I have been happily employed at Dynamisch Bureau.

At Dynamisch Bureau, I have a variety of responsibilities, but my favorite is definitely ‘matching.’ I’m a true people person and love the personal contact and the unique conversations I get to have. Matching involves reaching out to potential clients when we receive inquiries about our services. These inquiries can come from employers, but most often they are from individuals seeking coaching or a reintegration program (the “coachee”).

What I find truly remarkable is how quickly these conversations become warm and personal after a brief introduction. Everyone has a unique story and is searching for specific guidance. Often, these stories include sadness, uncertainty, or even injustice. Even though sharing these experiences with a stranger isn’t easy, I find that people are generally very open. A bond forms quickly. It’s so rewarding to receive messages from coachees who have had successful introductory meetings with their selected coach. It feels great to know I’ve played a positive role in helping them take that first step.

There’s also a practical aspect. During the matching conversation, I try to get to know the coachee as well as possible. With more information about their background, situation, and needs, I can select the right coaches. This selection also takes into account location: I can see how far each coach’s meeting location is from the coachee. The coachee is then presented with a shortlist of usually three coaches, along with links to their profiles on our website. After reviewing the options, the coachee decides who they’d like to meet.

I’m quite proud that 85% of our introductory meetings result in the coachee choosing to work with us, even though they often approach two or three agencies for an introduction.

I speak with an average of about 20 coachees per week, and every conversation is special because each person has their own unique story. The interactions that stand out most to me are with those who initially aren’t open to starting a coaching or reintegration program. In the end, most of them appreciate the understanding, the listening ear, and the fact that at Dynamisch Bureau, we genuinely have everyone’s best interests at heart. Together, we search for the right support!”
